Features:
The relative density is 1.4, with a strong pungent odor. Soluble in water (54g/100ml water at 20°C; 81.7g/100ml water at 100°C), the aqueous solution is acidic. Soluble in glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol. Contact with strong acid releases sulfur dioxide and generates the corresponding salts. Decomposition by heating to 150°C. If it is left in the air for a long time, it will be oxidized into sodium sulfate (easily decomposed by moisture and easily oxidized into sodium sulfate in exposed air), so sodium metabisulfite cannot be stored for a long time.
Use:
1. Used as chromatographic reagent, preservative and reducing agent in dye and pharmaceutical industry;
2. The food industry is used as a bleaching agent, preservative, bulking agent, antioxidant, color protection agent and preservative.
3. Pharmaceutical industry for the production of chloroform, phenylpropanols and benzaldehyde. The rubber industry is used as a coagulant. The printing and dyeing industry is used as a bleaching dechlorination agent for cotton and a cotton scouring aid. The leather industry is used for leather processing, which can make the leather soft, plump, tough, waterproof, folding, wear-resistant, etc. Chemical industry for the production of hydroxy vanillin, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, etc. The photosensitive industry is used as a developer, etc.

Storage and transportationConditions:
The warehouse for storing sodium metabisulfite should be dry and cool to prevent moisture and deterioration due to heat. The package should be kept intact, and it is strictly prohibited to store together with oxidants, toxic substances and harmful substances. The storage period is preferably six months from the date of production. The means of transport must be clean and should be covered to prevent rain from getting wet.
