Preliminary statistics from China Customs show that from January to December 2023, China exported a total of 31.496 million tons of various large-element fertilizers (including ammonium chloride, potassium nitrate, and organic fertilizers for animals and plants, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 27.3; the export amount was 9.842 billion US dollars, A year-on-year decrease of 13.9.
In December, 2.339 million tons of various fertilizers were exported, a decrease of 4.3 percent year-on-year. Exports for the month amounted to 0.707 billion billion US dollars, a decrease of 27.3 percent year-on-year.
In terms of imports, China imported a total of 13.091 million tons of various fertilizers from January to December 2023, an increase of 46.5 per cent over the same period last year, and a cumulative import amount of US $5.558 billion billion, an increase of 13.1 per cent over the same period last year. Annual fertilizer imports (in US dollars) are the highest in Chinese history!
In December, China imported 1.41 million tons of various fertilizers, up 26.7 per cent from a year earlier, and $0.475 billion billion, down 14.2 per cent.
